Born and raised in Porto, Portugal, Pedro began painting at the age of nine, when his teacher showed him how to hold a paintbrush in his mouth. In this school, art was an important way for teachers to engage with students and Pedro was encouraged to express himself through painting.
Pedro creates abstract works with in watercolour and acrylic. He loves to experiment and is highly dedicated to his art practice, working non-stop during his three days a week at the Nina. Painting brings him joy, he says. He likes that people can know him more fully –as an artist not just as the kid in the wheelchair. He loves selling his work and knowing when others find enjoyment in it. Although he sometimes paints at home, he prefers to create art among other people.
